A lot has been published in the news lately on the future of Medicare. It is proposed that by the year 2019 the funding behind the Medicare program will be obsolete. Much of the blame is being put on an ever aging population and more people relying on Medicare services. Increased spending and reduced tax income are also to blame and are subjects that need to be addressed if this problem is to be dealt with.
It is going to be interesting to see how the government goes about dealing with this situation. Do they raise taxes as a way to try and resolve the problem. Do they limit the services that are provided under the Medicare plan, or maybe increase the age at which one is eligible to receive Medicare coverage. Regardless of what is done the depleting Medicare fund is a serious issue that will affect the older US population like no other event ever has.
